Ouroboros is the very ancient figure referred to by many of the past cultures. The snake that devours its own tail. Tied in double strand with the concept of the life cycle, however, it represents a theory that concerns time and not space. There are two areas that are contrasted and they concern man's relationship with nature. The two visions are the foundational ones of our Western culture i.e., the predominant Judeo-Christian one and the ancient Greek one that must necessarily be rediscovered.
Biblical man is put in charge of nature, which is an object in his hands, can be changed, supplanted, managed according to his will. The natural world is created by the god who hands it over to man who molds it to his will. In contrast, the ancient Greek could not dominate the natural world but had to submit to it, to accept its cycle of death and resurrection because nature represents the ideal background that no god and no man ever created. Rediscovering this concept is crucial for modern man, in whom technique has taken the place of feeling, everything must be examined, predicted and mastered, nothing is more pure, essential and natural.

Ouroboros è la figura antichissima a cui molte delle culture passate fanno riferimento. Il serpente che si divora la coda. Legata a doppio filo con il concetto del ciclo vitale, rappresenta però una teoria che riguarda il tempo e non lo spazio. Gli ambiti che vengono contrapposti sono due e riguardano il rapporto dell’uomo con la natura. Le due visioni sono quelle fondative della nostra cultura occidentale ovvero quella giudaico-cristiana predominante e quella greca antica che va necessariamente riscoperta.
L’uomo biblico è messo a capo della natura, la quale è un oggetto nelle sue mani, può essere modificata, soppiantata, gestita secondo la sua volontà. Il mondo naturale è creato dal dio che lo consegna all’uomo il quale lo plasma a suo piacimento. Invece il greco antico non poteva dominare il mondo naturale ma doveva sottostare ad esso, accettare il suo ciclo di morte e resurrezione perché la natura rappresenta lo sfondo ideale che nessun dio e nessun uomo ha mai creato. Riscoprire questo concetto è fondamentale per l’uomo moderno, nel quale la tecnica ha preso il posto del sentimento, tutto deve essere esaminato, previsto e dominato, nulla è più puro, essenziale e naturale.
